Doina Iacob
Artist on VibrantCast
Doina Iacob is a Romanian-American contemporary artist whose work investigates the invisible architecture of value, power, memory, and human existence. Moving between abstraction and symbolism, she works with acrylics and unconventional materials—including shredded currency—to transform objects of assigned worth into something psychologically and visually charged. Her work is rooted in contradiction: destruction and preservation, abundance and absence, control and vulnerability. Fragments become evidence; texture becomes memory; what once represented material value is stripped of its original function and given another life. Rather than offering answers, Iacob creates spaces of tension and recognition—inviting the viewer to question what we value, what we obey, and what remains when familiar systems of meaning begin to dissolve.
