I’m Emma Marie Martin, a self-taught painter and maker living and working in Humboldt Park, Chicago. My work is a prism through which a stark reality is rendered simple and neon and candy-colored. I’ve been an artist since 1998, when my Grandma Marcella told me, “Don’t be an artist. Artists are kooky!” Always a rebel, I have dedicated my time and business to painting since 2011. I paint what makes me laugh and you smile.
