I am Luis Guzman a Chicago Artist from the Avondale neighborhood. I have been professionally painting since 2017. My mother was significant in my artistic growth and always led by example. Drawing anything and everything that sparked my creativity, it was a means of encouragement and coping with our very own struggles. My mother understood how important Art was to me and knew it was something I was meant to do. Along my journey I had the pleasure of being taught by two incredible high school teachers, Jim Dee and Ms.Terri. They were instrumental in my development. They stressed the importance of progress and patience, not only academically but in life. I love painting faces and figures. Painting a person strengthens my connection with the viewer. It creates a segway for sharing stories and understanding one another. I love what I do, I love Art. I’m following my dream of being an artist and what my mother and teachers have done for me, I want to do for others. I’m leading by example. So no matter what you create, be unorthodox, be different and stay confident...Remember, It’s all about perspective.
