I have always been an observer of nature and the emotional world inside, each with their own weather systems of light and color. I can’t stay serious for long. Art is a playground where my imagination runs and settles, runs some more, tears down and rebuilds. After earning my BFA from Kansas City Art Institute in 1974, I took a detour to become a teacher of Transcendental Meditation, a practice that brings me close to my creative self. As a top-selling artist at the Antioch Fine Arts Foundation for eight years, I had a consistent place to exhibit. Recently, I moved to Chicago to discover new locations to share my work and be amazed by the brilliance of Chicago artists. My artistic process is impulsive on both physical and digital canvases, throwing down shapes and colors, conversing with the images as they emerge, unplanned. Paint and impasto on my brush or palette knife are comfort food for my brain. Digital images are portals to colorful elsewheres. I developed techniques to repurpose those images as collage materials on thrifted glass, giving them a third dimension and the glass a new life.
