Born and raised in South Bend, Indiana, J Maloof began practicing art at an early age. A proud college dropout, J spends most of his time either making art, seeking community in the arts or thinking about it. Maloof transitioned from a turbulent adolescence as a LGBTQ+ member in an Indiana town, sliding straight into a role of caregiver for his mother; who had frontotemporal dementia, something characterized by its early onset and quick progression. He then met and married his wife and after only six months they had eloped. They are now both settled in Grand Rapids, Michigan. His wife now works as a social worker in refugee services, and he spends most of his days making art with a violent ferver. Throughout all of his adolescence and adulthood he pushed himself in artistic disciplines and theories, citing heavy influence from the media as well as the fine art world. He is a advocate for peace, higher thinking and seeking beauty.
