As a wife, mother, and professional, art has always been my oasis. What began as a way to navigate the uncertainty of the 2020 Covid quarantine, evolved into a transformative three-year journey at my dining room table. Since then, I have created nearly 300 artworks, a feat of consistency that stands as one of my proudest achievements. My work focuses on portraits of women of color, exploring the nuances of emotion and strength that define our experiences. I primarily work with oil pastels because of their tactile nature—I love the feeling of the medium against the paper as I layer color and texture. Whether portraying resilience or reflection, my portraits seek to find the extraordinary in the ordinary, offering viewers a window into the diverse souls of the women who inspire me. My objective is to draw the viewer into the confident and soft beauty of women of color.
