Mirror, Mirror

Acrylic on mirror and cardboard. This pieces explores the parallels between the stories of Snow White and the Garden of Eden. The apple is a symbol of Eve's temptation, but Snow White was also tempted by a wishing apple--Eve seeking wisdom and Snow White seeking love. The face of the demon is reflected in the mirror, while the crown above could represent the queen (demon in disguise) or the spiritual symbol of the God/Goddess. The ouroboros (snake circle), while nodding to the snake in the Garden of Eden, is an ancient symbol representing interconnection and the eternal cycle of life.
