The Alchemy of Being Medium: acrylic on canvas (SOLD) This piece began as an abstract background that sat in my studio untouched for roughly a year. Recently, I felt the urge to paint large, and I used the unfinished canvas to let my whim take over as I automatically drew this figure. May of my figures and faces lately seem to be in the process forming and unforming, loose and sketchy. Not solid. Shifting and flowing with their atmosphere. This is how I currently feel in my life. I moved to Chicago in 2021 and now in my mid-life, I am feeling a shift and loss of a solid identity. There are too many possibilities ahead of me. I am discovering that I am okay and even empowered by being slightly formless in my ego. Sometimes, as if in a dream, I would like to relax and melt into the cosmos and feel the magic and energy of my surroundings without the need to understand who, what, or why I am. (The Audio: THE ALCHEMY OF BEING She grows and forms but she is formless. She takes shape but it is ephemeral. She grows an identity but it is unidentifiable. She shifts and becomes while her becoming is undone.
