Butterfly 1- I feel watched

Besides the metaphor of butterflies undergoing change, the concept of an owl butterfly is really fascinating to me. They have adapted to have eye shaped dots to look like owl eyes to ward off predators. While obviously a fantastic survival adaptation it fakes being an owl now. The idea that a caterpillar undergoes such a drastic change, that it turns into a butterfly, to just mimic another animal feels like it almost sells its accomplishment short to me. Like if someone undergoes a major change in their life, are they pretending to be someone else, or are they truly themself. I tried to capture that feeling of eyes being looked upon you as you try something new. Feeling if you truly are yourself or just pretending to be a fraud in order to keep living. This is a mixed media piece of Acrylic Paint and Ink on loose canvas.
