medium: oil based markers, acrylic paint, and acrylic markers. Description: This painting was inspired through a writing I have based on a night with friends and the dangers of being a person of color: A room with my homies, Ima side kick with my sidekicks rocking fly kicks. Head warm, I’m full of thoughts. We got stories to cover but not one person going to recover. Another in the chamber, I got no strife. But this is life. Spiked horchata. We dance bachata. We’re sweet as límon. Arriba, abajo, al centro, y pa dentro. Look alive, because this could be our intro An afterparty is no fun. Step out. We pop out. Fresh air, I wake up. They outside. I’m innocent. Moments when you see the opposition, you know you could be in the wrong position. In the disposition of being a dissed position. We stop and look. Gotta keep them in my sight. Don’t stare too long, I wanna see a kiss my mom goodnight. I don’t know about you. But I know I could be dead or a fool. For all I know they could be good men. I could be misunderstood. Sorry officer, I can’t put my faith in you. I have to look for the worst.
