Mixed media on found wood. In Greek myth, the Hesperides were nymphs who guarded Hera's sacred apple trees that bore golden apples of immortality. In another Greek myth, the Trojan war is said to have been started by the golden Apple of Discord. In the story, Eris, the goddess of discord, dropped the golden apple, inscribed with the words "for the fairest." Three goddesses each claimed the apple--- Hera, Athena, and Aphrodite. The rivalry eventually led to the Trojan War.
