This piece is about the nature of connecting with biological family. Nostalgia plays a giant factor in this: I wouldn’t be who I am, albeit now able to more freely identify as queer, without the background my biological family gave me. As most of my family is much older than I am and mostly dead, I crave knowledge of my family culture as a means of connecting with the people who were formative to me, as a means of trying to become whole.
