Three Wise Women

This photograph was taken in the fall of 2004 in Lhasa, Tibet. These three wise women were around the Jokhang Temple spining their prayer wheels. I loved being in Tibet, which was a key highlight during my three-week once in a lifetime trip to China, Hong Kong, and Tibet. At the same time, it was humbling to be in Lhasa while Dalai Lama hasn't been able to return to his 'home' since 1959 when he had to flee Tibet and move to India. Even though I was in Lhasa for 3-4 days, I wonder how much has changed in 20 years and how many people are able to make their pilgrimage and practice their beliefs. When I was there, it was illegal for anyone in China or Tibet to openly display any images of the current Dalai Lama. This photo was also from my first exhibition which included over 20 photographs taken in Tibet. ---- Actual image size is 12x14 inches.
