The sleepy hormone melatonin is symbolized by a crow with nebula plumage that guides you from daylight into the dusky dreams that await. Mixed media on stretched canvasThis is one in a series of paintings depicting my first experimentations with water-based media and a more open style that allows gravity, water, and various media (like inks and metallics) to collaborate with me. These paintings symbolize a release of complete control and a faster style necessitated by a chronic and painful illness that can prevent me from standing or sitting for long spells. My art had to change to adapt to this new life, and I am happy at the unexpected silver lining, i.e., an increased repertoire and style.
