I created this series of paintings during the SARS 2003 epidemic. The issues surrounding connection and safety continue to resonate as we grapple with the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic. This series explores protection through masks. Masks obscure features, contributing to feelings of isolation and uneasiness. When facial cues are removed, viewers are drawn to the subject's gaze.
