In this oil painting I use images of singers to create a composition with a focus on the expressive possibilites of the mouth. Obviously the mouth is a nexus for human expression, but here I wanted to draw attention to the similarities between opposite expressions like fear and joy. I love collage in painting because it allows me to reinterpret and reevaluate found images and situate them in an entirely new context.
