The piece is titled “Childhood” it is 46in x 46in and it has a depth of 1.5 inches. It is oil paint and oil pigment sticks layered on linen canvas. It’s been refined and built over 2 years. It now represents the helplessness of children in a dark and frightening world. The child is hidden in the layers and motifs, adding to the unseen nature of being a child in this society. Texture and detail create movement- no square inch is still. Motors and figures are personally inspired by the life of the artist. However, they are animated and ambiguous enough that the viewer can project their own vision and truth of these figures.
