Fine oil on line, glazed 'Smiles and Frowns' represents the emotional turbulence and dichotomy of existence. Drawing from themes of the Buddhist Wheel of Life, the curves swirl infinitley into smiles, frowns, euphoria, depression- yet all composed from the same glowing string of paint. The overarching mood feels chaotic and almost menacing, probing the viewers own anxieties about the progression of life and the forces that we cannt touch yet affect so much of our lives.
