Fungi and Me

My inspiration behind this crochet tapestry comes from my fascination with Fungi and its contribution to the creation of all life on earth. I became a fungi fan after reading a book called "The Hidden Lives of Trees" by Peter Wohlleben. In this book, Peter explores the incredible ecology of forests and how fungi are the beings that connect it all. It got me thinking about how we are all connected to the earth and all life within it, and this connection allows us to gain knowledge from ancient life forms that teach us about the world around us. We are so blessed to live in such a vibrant colorful world full of life, and I wanted to reflect that here. When working on this piece I imagined that the yarn itself was woven together to create art just as fungi's mycelium webs are are woven together to assist in the creation of life.
