Be Not Afraid

Abstract art can be tricky. Without a formal subject, a piece must balance elements like pattern, texture, color and detail to create a piece of art that works as a complete idea. Too simple and the work can seem incomplete or sterile-- Too much detail can risk being busy, muddy and messy. "Be Not Afraid." came to the artist in a bolt of inspiration. The piece is simple in its few colors, repeated pattern, and distinct lines-- focusing instead on beautifully hand rendered shapes and intense colors to create a striking piece. The title a bit tongue and cheek-- based on the idea of "the biblical angel", a being with many eyes-- whose "standard greeting" is the titular phrase, it also represents the artists mantra when approaching abstract work.
