Cosmological Connectivity

In my drawing class, we had a prompt to go from realism to abstraction. The first subject we did was bikes and I have never failed an assignment like I did this one. Despite thinking I did okay, my teacher told me that maybe I just could not get past a learning curve. For my next subject, I chose hands and decided to do overnight after overnight in the studio creating these detailed and considered hands cohesively progressing from realism to abstraction. The two hands closest to the realistic side of the spectrum were used as my inspiration for this piece. I thought about hands as a means of creation and connection. Reflecting on how we long for connection both personally and more abstractly (interests, spirituality, ideologies, etc.), I wanted to portray my feeling towards our human connection to the universe. Impermanence of the human form was a great source of inspiration as I thought of how we originate from the universe, experience humanity, and return back to universe.
