A Pub in Ulverston

The most transformational time in my life so far was when I solo travelled through Europe. In these 3 months, I volunteered my time at various places, one including a buddhist temple in Ulverston, England. In this volunteer position I worked in the art studio, helping assist in the creation of various buddhist statues to be sent out to temples all around the world. Along with all the amazing work I did, the most impactful aspect of this month was the other volunteers I met, who were from literally all walks of life and all different parts of the world. In this photo, it was Halloween, and to celebrate some volunteers and I went down to the local pubs and drank beers and played card games. For context, the town was so so small and local, and the pubs were almost empty. But that is what made it even more special, it was a moment you couldn’t replicate. I snagged a photo of the two friends I met there while we were all playing cards, one girl from Brazil and one from Chile, and ended up painting that photo. I really wanted to use this painting as a way to remember this amazing memory. No matter where you are in the world, you can always find a friend.
