Completed in 2023, this painting depicts an original, and still-functioning, Blues juke joint in Indianola, MS. The juke joint was open in the 1940s after World War II, and remained a melting pot for Blues music over the decades, showcasing some Blues greats including Ray Charles, B.B. King, and Albert King. In 2008, B.B. King bought the juke joint and remained its owner until 2012 when he donated it to the BB King Museum. The club recently underwent extensive renovations and reopened in 2023 to eager crowds and fresh line-ups of music. This painting was completed in acrylic on stretched canvas.
