Immaterial Girls

This piece is based on a paper moon photo of my great mother as a little girl. It was done in succession with my other painting Me and a recreation of the Moon from George Melies 1902 film To The Moon. I was thinking about my trans queer identity in relation to my family in how I am not the first person in my family to feel or experience what I feel, but I am the first to speak those feelings into reality. This idea of a queer family that exists out of time.
