Teenage Years on Record, Diptych of Two

Collage diptych consisting of vinyl records bearing my old illustrations, trinkets, medication pamphlets, found objects, literal trash, anime magazines and on a collaged wooden panel (my computer desk that broke as I moved apartments last year). In the center of each record, there is a mirror. I had made this piece around the same time that I had turned 20, as a way to reflect on myself after some unexpected (and unpleasant) change to my housing situation and social life. As a constant practice I like to explore ways to describe my personal history, as I struggle to develop my own identity. Having to have to suddenly move apartments the previous summer had be in a personal battle of what should stay and what should be disposed of. It's cute, but also kinda funky and disgusting, just like me.
